Furat Abduelle about Furat:
For several years I have been working as a spoken word artist, on the one hand to live out my writing passion and on the other hand to give voice to my anti-colonial, anti-racist and intersectional stance.
In the past, I have organized several formats critical of power-structures. Among them, in 2018, as a board member of the Rosa-Luxemburg Stiftung RLP, I initiated the Black History Month series in Mainz. My bachelor's degree, in English and philosophy to become a teacher, motivated me to question the Eurocentric and authoritative [herrschaftlichen] canon. Through my positioning and reality as a Black, Muslim cis-woman, as well as my undergraduate experiences, I began researching and working in sociopolitical contexts on topics such as anti-Muslim racism, intersectionality, and critique of racism. Thus, my expertise moves in spaces that are critical of power-structures and self-organized fields. In the meantime, I work in the IT sector and do also have technological skills.
Furat is particularly concerned with these political issues:
Through my work in organizing events critical of power-structures, I have had to learn that the dominant [herrschenden] conditions should not only be countered through critical analysis, because ultimately the maintainers of power relations must not only become part of the overthrow, but learn to give up their position of power altogether. As long as giving up power is not intrinsically motivated, hardly anything will change, so I decided to devote my energy exclusively to the marginalized.
As referent to Furat it is important that:
For me, it is important that together we treat each other empathetically and courteously.
