Makda is the daughter of Eritrean fugitives and grew up in Frankfurt am Main. She is studying for a Master's degree in Sociology. Her major fields of study are Gender Studies, Cultural Studies and Postcolonial Studies. During her bachelor studies she co-founded the People of Color University Group Mainz. Makda is a Black feminist and enjoys African (diasporic) literature, music and visual arts. She is active in anti-racist contexts, gives empowerment workshops with young BPoC and lectures on Black Feminisms at various events inside and outside universities.
