Referent*in #18 - IWS
This is what IWS says about IWS.
Members of International Womens Space and Break Isolation Group fight for the rights of refugee women in Germany. IWS is a feminist, anti-racist political group in Berlin with migrant, refugee, and non-migrant women as members. Jennifer Kamau is a Berlin-based activist and researcher. In 2012, she co-founded the International Women* Space (IWS). Lucy Nganga joined IWS in 2019 and is one of the key members of the Break Isolation Group (BIG), a group of asylum seekers living in various shelters in Brandenburg.
IWS is particularly concerned with these issues:
Racism in the asylum system, culture of deportation. Isolation and discrimination in the asylum process continue to have immense negative effects on women's mental health and well-being. Our goal is to change the current asylum system, abolish the "camp system" (forced housing of refugees), and open all borders.
