Decolonization: Mermaids Built The Kilimanjaro

The workshop is family orientated and works with heritage and testimonies of historical legacies of Black & Diaspora Culture in Germany and dismantling colonial memory. We will look at how images were built in history through 4 themes and focus on the visibility of women in archives that focus on the notion of Mermaids as archivists. We will develop ways on how to leave traces to our ancestors and build our own ecosystem testimony group.
The workshop will be critical & fun exercises on the idea of building a collective monument through body and voice, which will then be performed alltogether as a decolonial gesture.
Participants are encourage to bring objects or images that they can use in the creations of the workshop.
