Dürfen wir vorstellen? Felicia Lazaridou
I am a psychologist and a therapist from South London who’s been specialising in the mental health of black women for several years now. I am building on my expert status via my own experiences, via the narrations of my clientele, and via my diligent academic research practices. A ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to mental health is culturally incompetent to the awareness and understanding of the intersectionality of social and contextual factors specific to black women. There are factors specific to our ethnicity, class and gender that converge to precipitate, trigger and maintain mental illness.
Therefore, we need our own discourse on recovery to circumvent the disadvantages of the mainstream mental health system.
